The revised Payments Services Directive (PSD2) mandates banks to provide access to account facilities to licensed Third Party Providers (TPPs). There are three types of Third Party Providers:

Account Information Service Providers (AISP): AISPs aggregate online information for multiple payment accounts held by a customer with one or more payment service provider( s)

Payment Initiation Service Provider (PISP): PISPs provide an online service to initiate a payment order at the request of a customer with respect to a payment account held at another payment service provider.

Payment Service Providers that are Card-based Payments Instruments Issuers (CBPII): CBPIIs confirm availability of funds of an online payment account.

PSD2 also states that communications between the ASPSPs and the TPPs have to be secure and compliant with the Regulatory Technical Standards (RTS) on Strong Customer Authentication and Common and Secure Communication (Commission Delegated Regulation (EU) 2018/389 supplementing Directive (EU) 2015/2366).

ICBC London has implemented the ICBC PSD2 API which is based on Open Banking Implementation Entity (OBIE) standard for compliance with PSD2 regulation. The ICBC PSD2 API Platform is designed to provide a ready- to-use, complete infrastructure for PSD2 APis. You can find detailed documentations and specifications on our ICBC API Developer Portal. You can also test our APis using widely used standard tools for API access.
